Pat has over 40 years experience in the design and management of capital and maintenance projects. This experience includes electrical engineering design, project management, and general management of technical operations.
As a design engineer, he has been responsible for the design of industrial and commercial power distribution systems up to 44KV, including over-current coordination and system fault current studies. Many of his past projects involved large electrical systems located in hazardous areas. He has extensive experience in electrical and electronic control system design using relays, PLC, and PC based control systems. Many systems also included both AC and DC drive systems ranging from fractional horsepower to 1500 horsepower. Pat has been responsible for power distribution, lighting, and secondary systems for numerous commercial and institutional facilities. These facilities include schools, nursing homes, doctor offices, parks, restaurants, general office and retail spaces. While at Matrix, Pat was the designer of the QS1 Headquarters in Spartanburg, SC, which was the first LEED certified commercial building in the state.
As a project manager, Pat has led multi-disciplined teams in the design of both small process improvement projects and large capital projects with values up to $80 million.
Over the past 10 years Pat has been the lead electrical engineer for numerous NFPA 70E Arc Flash studies utilizing industry leading software SKM power tools. These studies include Spartanburg County municipal buildings, all of Spartanburg Water treatment plants and pump stations, numerous Greenville Hospital medical facilities, and numerous Industrial facilities.
Robbie graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in May 2020. The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is an accredited school and he is determined to get his licensure when eligible.
As an undergraduate Robbie has become proficient in design software’s such as AutoCAD and Revit and has more than 8 years of experience in AutoCAD.
While Robbie was a senior, he worked on a design project sponsored by Duke Energy and gained industry experience as a future graduate. He acted as team leader on this design project and has learned how to excel in a work environment. Working alongside Duke Energy, Robbie learned how to create a presentation, host meetings, and keep a team of engineers on a strict timeline.
Electrical Designer & BIM Manager
Ryan has been an electrical designer and BIM manager at Matrix Engineering for 4 years, where he has worked on various educational, commercial, religious, and industrial building layouts.
Responsibilities for these projects have included developing Matrix BIM standards, single line diagrams for power distribution systems, performing voltage drop calculations, lighting layout and systems and quality control coordination with other disciplines associated with the project. Ryan graduated from Spartanburg Community College in 2016 with an Associate’s degree in Applied Science.
Chief Electrical Designer
Robbie graduated Greenville Technical College in 2012 and graduated Clemson University majoring in Electrical Engineering in May 2016. While attending school, Robbie worked for Matrix Engineering gaining invaluable design experience. This experience led Robbie to excel in the classroom, while the knowledge he learned in the classroom has led him to have a better understanding of electrical engineering design and principals. This experience has been key in his approach to design layouts.
As an electrical designer, he has been responsible for the electrical design of numerous educational, commercial, religious, and industrial building layouts. Other projects that Robbie has been responsible for designing include site lighting layouts and generator design projects. Robbie’s responsibilities for these projects have included developing single line diagrams for power distribution systems, performing voltage drop calculations, lighting layout and lighting product selection, photometric reports, receptacle layout, fire alarm systems and QC coordination with other disciplines associated with the project. Robbie has also been responsible for gathering field data for numerous NFPA 70E studies.
Over the last several years Robbie has been involved in numerous LEED projects. These projects focus on green building design. Recent design buildings that Robbie has been involved in include the New Spartanburg High School Campus, USC Upstate School of Business, Beaumont Mill Renovation, and the Spartanburg Community College downtown campus.
